June 02, 2017

We know how tirelessly parents, families, teachers and friends work to create our community’s amazing learning environment — and it’s time to let your hair down! Northstar California is proud to celebrate education and the start of summer for the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District with a family-friendly party benefiting the Sierra Expeditionary Learning School. Festivities include a DJ at the Village stage, roller skating, mini golf, raffle prizes, yard games, face painting by Giggle and Grin, and more.

Northstar California donates 20 percent of all activities purchased for the duration of the event directly to the Sierra Expeditionary Learning School. We’re proud to say, “thank you” to those who build up our community with the next generation of mountain enthusiasts.

Trailblazers Mountain Bike Camp

July 17 - 21

Are your kids looking for some exciting opportunities to meet friends and grow as mountain bikers? This year’s Trailblazer Camp will be the best summer fun your 10-16 year olds have ever had. Your kid will spend the day with like-minded riders while being overseen by some of Lake Tahoe’s best bike coaches. Our coaches will teach your kids how to make the most of the Northstar Bike Park. Groups will be created based on ability, so whether they're here to learn the basics or prepare for race day, we’ll have them covered.

Camp Information

Monday – Friday 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

*This is not an overnight camp

Schedule:

9:30am – 10:00am Meet up at the Specialized Academy (Next to the Season Pass Office)

10:00am Bike Park opens.

10:00am - 12:30pm Warm-up laps. We'll make sure all riders are appropriately grouped to maximize fun and learning potential. Groups will be around a 6:1 ratio allowing plenty of opportunity for one-on-one coaching. We will utilize the lift priority that only Bike Academy groups get - more riding, less standing in line.

12:30 - 1:30pm Supervised lunch at Big Springs Day Lodge at Mid-Mountain.

1:30pm – 4:00pm Afternoon riding. We'll take this time to start pushing ourselves on familiar trails, or exploring new ones.

4:00pm – 4:30pm Village meet-up. Time to recap the day and lay out the plan for the next day. If you’ve still got the energy, try some roller skating or mini golf. OR put your feet up and have a soda as you dream about tomorrow's trail adventure.

Camp Cost

Rooted in the culinary arts, Northstar California proudly fosters children learning about healthy food and how to prepare it. For this event, Executive Chef Steve Anderson hand-selects teams of youth chefs from a video contest to face-off in front of a live audience at Zephyr Lodge. All in the name of Project MANA, a Tahoe-based nonprofit organization dedicated to hunger relief, judges evaluate each dish crafted by the children in a blind cooking competition. Friends, families and spectators are invited to purchase tickets to cheer on the upcoming culinary talent in our own backyard. The top two teams meet again in the kitchen at the Lake Tahoe Autumn Food & Wine Festival for the first place title.
