Come and join Ripperoo, our Ski & Ride School Mascot, and his Ski School friends as he leads kids in a parade through the Village at Northstar. The parade will be held every Saturday through April 4th, 2017 from 4:00 pm – 4:05 pm.  Help them dance their way around the ice rink. Meet at the Kid’s Ski School entrance at 3:45 pm to participate. No need to bring anything but a smile, noise makers and toys will be provided!

Due to weather and safety concerns Sunday, January 8th's church service will be canceled. 

Enjoy a Sunday worship service in the fresh air and beautiful mountain setting by joining us on Sundays this winter from January 1st through April 16th (Easter Sunday) for interdenominational worship services sponsored by Tahoe Resort Ministries and Northstar California.  All services will take place on the mountain at the top of the Vista Chair Lift at the Cross at 2:00 p.m. and will last between 15 and 20 minutes. All are welcome!

Have you ever been waiting eagerly in a lift line, dreaming of making first tracks on fresh corduroy and wishing that you could switch careers for a day just to get those early runs with Patrol? Well…. here’s your chance! Every Saturday and Sunday in the month of January, with the inclusion of Friday January 13th, the first 10 guests to sign up get to experience what our Ski Patrol does every morning to prepare for a safe day, starting with their morning meeting! 

Interested guests, who are advance to expert ability levels, can e-mail Kate Maltais by 3pm the day before you would like to attend to sign up.  Guests will meet with a patroller at the top of the gondola at 7:30am, please load the gondola no later than 7:20am.

If 7:30am sounds a little too early for you than feel free to help patrol with the closing sweep at the end of the day!

Want to become more familiar with the terrain that Northstar has to offer?  Well Northstar’s Mountain Safety Team is offering guided mountain tours every Saturday & Sunday at 10:00am and 1:00pm throughout January to promote Safety Month.  Meet up with your Mountain Safety Tour Guide at the top of the Big Springs Gondola and let your Northstar adventure begin!

Take an evening to slow down and enjoy the peaceful setting of the Sierra Nevada during Northstar’s guided, evening snowshoe tours. The 2 - 2.5 hour tour begins at the Cross Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center at 5 p.m. The group will meander through the pine tree-lined forest, ultimately concluding the tour at The Village at Northstar. During the adventure, snowshoer’s will also relax around a fire pit to enjoy live acoustic music, s’mores and hot chocolate. Dogs on leashes are welcome to join-in on the fun.


Snowshoes are not included with the tour, rental snowshoes are $21.00 per pair and available through the Cross-Country, Telemark and Snowshoe Center 530.562.3270

Have you ever been curious how Northstar has such great groomed trails?  Come join the Northstars Grooming Team for Cat Show & Tell every Saturday during January Safety Month from 10:00am to 2:00pm!  Northstar Grooming will have a Cat and a driver at the top of the Zephyr lift to show guests how it works and answer any questions.

This is your chance to see what happens after the lifts stop turning! Join Northstar's Ski Patrol for a day and learn how they keep all guests safe while closing down the mountain. 


Interested guests, who are advance to expert ability levels, can meet at the Summit Patrol Office, top of Comstock Express (where the highest American Flag is flying)

  • Meet at 3:15pm to help close the back side trails
  • Meet at 3:45pm to help close the front side trails

or email Kate Maltais to notify interest in participation

All guests should be intermediate to advance skilled skiers or riders.

Join Northstar California for the USASA Slopestyle competition taking place on Sunday, January 29.  The Slopestyle competition will take place on Pinball accessed by the Vista Chair Lift on the Mountain, spectators can purchase lift tickets in the Season Pass & Ticket office the day of the event.  Competitors can register for the event by clicking here.

*Please note this is an on mountain event and can not be accessed by foot, spectators must purchase a lift ticket and ski or snowboard to the event.

Far West Nordic Ski Education Association in conjunction with Northstar California presents the 9th annual Tahoe Rim Tour & Race, a point to point 26 kilometer race from North Tahoe High School in Tahoe City to the Cross Country Center at Northstar California Resort. This is a fundraiser for the Far West Nordic Ski Education Association's Junior Ski Programs.

Join us for this very special event that interconnects some of the most scenic parts of Tahoe XC and Northstar's trails. We'll have on-going festivities at the Northstar Cross Country, Telemark & Snowshoe Center as racers come in. Enjoy an end of race chili lunch followed by an awards ceremony.

Details:  Registered participants can ski the race course throughout the day, starting at Tahoe XC.  No shuttles will be provided between Northstar and Tahoe City, so guests must arrange their own transportation.

The Mountain Table Dinner Series offers guests a unique dining experience in our iconic Zephyr Lodge. This dinner will feature wines from Talbott Winery which will be complemented by a menu featuring locally and regionally sustained produce and proteins. Guests will not only enjoy a fantastic menu, breath taking views, and live music, but there will be a few surprises along the way! Northstar is excited to donate a portion of proceeds to a local non-profit for each dinner of the series, as part of our EpicPromise program.

Explore the dark skies above Northstar California on a snowshoe tour featuring telescopic viewing with Star Guide and poet, Tony Berendsen. The 2 – 2.5 hour guided tour begins at the Cross Country Ski, Telemark & Snowshoe Center at 5 p.m. The group will meander through the serene forest while observing the starry sky above, ultimately concluding the tour at The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. Each event will include a laser tour of the cosmos using state-of-the-art Celestron telescopes. Guests will have the chance to unwind beside a fire pit while sipping cocoa and hot cider, wine and other adult beverages will be available for purchase.

Little ones and their parents are invited to enjoy the snow in our new Snow Play Zone located on the Overlook. The designated area will have snow features for kids to climb, build, mold, slide, play and get creative on! The Overlook is located on the terrace above the Village Ice Rink and can be accessed through the stair cases near Kids Ski School and to the right of Rubicon Pizza. Elevator access available.

Bring the kids to Northstar for an afternoon of exploring the great outdoors in a fun, unintimidating, family-friendly atmosphere. The 3 hour tours are open to all ages and ability levels as the trail is designed for the entire family to enjoy. A guide will lead the group through some of the easier trails  in an environment with FUN being the focus and snowshoe enthusiasts will delight in hot chocolate, cookies and snow play! 


Tours begin at the Cross Country, Telemark and Snowshoe Center at 1:00 p.m. 


Snowshoes are not provided with the tour, though rentals are available for $21 per pair. Nordic sleds (ski strollers) are made available specifically for this event in case we have any tired tykes in need of some extra assistance.

Tours will be $52 for adults and $31 for children 12 and under. Reservations can be made online through Eventbrite.com . As this event sells out on a regular basis, reservations are highly recommended. Tours will take place snow or shine. All participants must wear warm, waterproof boots.
